Course Schedule

This course will be split into an introductory component lasting 3 days followed by 3 weeks working through separate breathwork meditations each week. Each breathwork meditation session consists of 5-10 minutes of diaphragmatic rhythmical breathwork followed by a series of breath retention techniques lasting 4-5 mins. A target spO2 level of 80-85% for 2-3 mins duration of breath retention provides the desired outcome and benefits.

During the introductory period you will be given some thought provoking exercises and a video tutorial of how to perfect the breathing technique so that you are fully prepared for the first live meditation. Once the introductory period is complete, there will be 1 live session each week (total of 3 live sessions + a wrap up call at the end) accompanied by downloadable guided meditations and exercises to work through during the remainder of the week.

Initiation Phase

Guided 20 minute breathwork meditation in downloadable audio format prepares you for the deeper practices.

Week 2

Awakening Phase

40 minute guided audio breathwork meditation awakens your ‘inner pharmacy’ strengthening, healing and nourishing your body with vital oxygen while giving you the therapeutic benefits of intermittent hypoxia.

Week 3

SOMA Phase

In this new study by leading neuroscientist and founder of NeuroMeditation Institute, Dr Jeff Tarrant shows that the 22-minute session of SOMA Breath's® Daily Dose produced brainwave activity in the Default Mode Network (DMN) comparable to psychedelics.

Is this program right for me?

The 21 Day Awakening Journey is a protocol designed to help anyone improve their physical, mental, and spiritual health.

How much time do I need to go through this program?

The upcoming program lasts 21 days. 

You’ll want to set aside 2-3 hours a week for 3 weeks. Here’s how that breaks down:

  • You’ll join the weekly LIVE (or replay) coaching calls with our instructors (2 hours per week)
  • You’ll learn 2 to 4 core exercises per week (15 minutes per week)
  • You’ll start the meditation practice that takes about 20 minutes a day
  • You may also want to set aside additional personal time for practicing the exercises, meditate, and reflect (optional)

What date does it start?

Is SOMA Breath dangerous?

The techniques of SOMA Breath are very safe if practiced properly and learned from a trained SOMA Breath instructor. The breath retention techniques including The Awakening ritual should be done with caution for people who have severe hypertension or heart disease. Pregnant women and menstruating women should avoid The Awakening.

Hyperventilation can lead to respiratory alkalosis and so techniques like Rebirthing, Holotropic Breathwork or Transformational Breath should be done with caution as it can cause toxic damage and an overload of stress from excess oxygen entering the bloodstream. However SOMA breath uses gentle, rhythmical breathwork and breath retention techniques that prevents this issue and allows more oxygen to enter into the areas it is needed without harming cells from oxidative stress.

Is there a connection between SOMA Breath and religion?

SOMA Breath respects the ancient rituals that predate religion that at the time were so powerful that religions were even formed from them. It enabled these early tribes to connect to their own higher power and therefore create mastery over mind and body through the energy of spirit. We bring you back that same spiritual power but now free from the secrecy, control and dogma of religion.

The latin root meaning of the word ‘Spiritual’ is ‘To Breathe’. Inspire means ‘to breathe in’. Conspire means ‘to breathe together’. Spirit is the spiritual life force that comes from breath.

The ancient Essenes tribes who formed the early Christian traditions had breathwork rituals as a core of their religious practices. The shamanic tribes from Siberia through to Native American Indians and African tribesman also have breathing practices as a core part of their celebrations and prayer.

The techniques in SOMA Breath are inspired from the ‘renegade’ tantric yogis and these ancient shamanic cultures who predate the more dogmatic organised religion of Hinduism, and so the methods they discovered were evolved from their own real world experience of surviving and thriving in harsh environments.
